Ice Circle

Perfect circles are almost impossible to create. An Italian painter named Giotto Di Bondone is one of the few humans to have achieved the feat. While we now have tools and machines that can make circles with ease, that kind of perfection is still not something found very often in nature.

One of the few instances is an ice circle. This natural phenomenon can form on the outer bends of rivers or at the center of a lake or creek when the temperature is below freezing. They are created when a small section of surface ice breaks free from the rest.
Unable to go anywhere, the current will spin the broken piece. As its edges rub against the rest of the ice covering the water, it will be worn smooth until a perfect circle is formed. Ice circles can come in many sizes. The largest one ever documented was in 2019, in Westbrook, Maine, and was measured at just under 300 feet in diameter.

Do you ever feel like you’re going around in circles? While this can help smooth away rough edges, it can also wear you out. Being stuck in the same place with no option for advancement is a career-killer.
