Far from the most deadly train crash in history, The Nowy Dwór Mazowiecki Train Disaster is still one of the strangest. Occurring on Oct 22, 1949, in Nowy Dwór, Poland, the tragedy claimed the lives of around 200 people. However, the Polish government refused to acknowledge that it ever happened.

Accounts of the disaster were reported abroad by a number of newspapers in the United States, but in 2020, when journalists and amateur historians tried to recover proof, the only evidence they found was the testimony of a single eyewitness.

This created more questions than it answered, leading people to wonder if the incident ever really happened or if the government had covered it up for some reason. Others questioned what the reason might be and who was pulling the strings behind the decision. With a lack of evidence either way, we may never know the truth about this mysterious phenomenon.
