Aurora Borealis

Last week, thousands of people across North America (including us here in Texas) were treated to a rare and beautiful sight! On the northern horizon, Aurora Borealis, commonly called The Northern Lights, was visible as a colorful glow! 

Our planet’s magnetic field guides particles that have been charged by the sun to the north and south poles. There, they encounter oxygen, nitrogen, and other atmospheric gases, causing a light display like no other. The color of the light depends on which kind of gas is interacting and at what altitude the collision takes place. 

Interestingly, the phenomenon is not confined to Earth. Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Mars have all experienced their own version of The Northern Lights. 

Aurora Borealis is an example of the beauty that can be created when two things mix together in the right way. This kind of synergy is something we strive for!
